As an orthodontist, I find great joy in working with people in such a unique and personal way. Not only is it enjoyable to get to know each person during their treatment time, but they get to know my team and me, too. True connections are formed and friendships grow as we move beyond provider and patient. Often, when treatment is complete, the person has an incredible, confident new smile – and we have made a friend for life!

Orthodontics is a unique specialty. Patients come to us voluntarily, seeking to improve their lives. They are excited about the process and engaged in every step of treatment. I believe the best orthodontic experience, and strongest results, can only be achieved by partnering with my patient: they, their family, my team, and I must work together to develop that amazing smile!

Because treatment usually takes a couple years, and I see patients about once a month, we have the time to build a bond of trust and respect. I care about each patient, personally, and want only the best for them.

I love the transformations I see in every person, from the bounce in their step to their confidence growing as their teeth shift into a more ideal alignment. By the time treatment is complete, each person’s self-worth, and comfort with who they are and how they look, has transformed: they have a great smile and can’t wait to share it with the world!

Education

  • Bachelor of Science, Loyola Marymount University (2004)
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery, University of Washington (2008)
  • Certificate General Practice Residency, University of Washington (2009)
  • Master of Science in Dentistry, University of Washington (2011)
  • Certificate Graduate Orthodontics. University of Washington (2011)

Since completing my formal orthodontic studies, I have furthered my knowledge and skills through continuing education. Staying current on the latest technologies and advances in treatment options, along with patient care and comfort, is essential. I am always seeking options that lead to the most innovative, successful treatment experience and outcome.

I participate in many study groups, including one for Invisalign® and clear aligner treatment. I also attend local, regional, and national conferences, as well as take advantage of seminars and lectures. I volunteered with the Washington State Society of Orthodontists, as past-president of the organization, and mentor pre-dental residents.

Beyond the Practice

I grew up in Des Moines, WA, and have lived in Fremont/Wallingford for about ten years. My husband, Colin, remodels houses – much as I remodel mouths!

Both Colin and I are from this area and appreciate being near our parents and family we are proud Uncle and Auntie to three energetic, fun-loving children: Sam, Eden and JJ.

If I’m not in the office, I’m often found hanging with friends and family. I like improving my cooking skills by making dinners at home, though I also enjoy dining out. I make time for hip-hop dance class, Bar Method, and weight training, and enjoy running Green Lake and Lake Union. Around the house, I’m a novice green thumb but am working on improving that success rate! Snowboarding happens during the winter and Colin and I enjoy hiking and camping, too.
